Earlier today at Pocahontas County High School, a belt on a compressor heating unit in the band room malfunctioned. As a precaution, the school initiated a fire safety drill and evacuated students to the auditorium while the fire department was contacted. The fire department has since assessed the situation and confirmed that there is no ongoing risk. All students have safely returned to their classrooms, and normal operations have resumed. At this time, the school’s phone system is temporarily down but is expected to be restored to full service shortly. Thank you

Hillsboro Elementary Fifth Grade Presents: The Living History Exhibit! Our fifth graders have been hard at work bringing influential African American figures to life! Students will dress as their chosen historical or contemporary figure and portray them as part of our live wax museum, sharing stories about their character’s life, impact, and achievements. Friday, March 6, 2026 Open from 9:00–11:30 AM & 1:15–3:00 PM Hillsboro Elementary School This self‑guided exhibit takes about 20 minutes and features figures such as Simone Biles, Carter G. Woodson, Octavia E. Butler, David Richmond, and many more inspiring individuals. Flash photography and video recording are welcome! Come celebrate learning, creativity, and history brought to life by our amazing students!

Hillsboro Students and Families,

Staff have been reaching out to students through class dojo, student emails, and phone working on non traditional day work and answering any questions. Please contact the teachers via emails or the school phone number 304-653-4221 if you have any questions.
Students moving on to the county Social Studies Fair will be going tomorrow Wednesday 3-3-26 after breakfast.
Second Grade students will be going to Snowshoe on Thursday and Friday leaving after breakfast.
Fifth grade students will be having their Living History Museum on Friday, community is welcome to attend 9:00-11:30 and 1:15-3:00.
Friday evening HES will be having Bingo. Door open at 5:00, games begin at 6:00.
