Career Day at Hillsboro Elementary School
Today was an exciting and educational day at HES as we hosted our Career Day, welcoming a diverse group of community professionals to share their careers with our students. The event gave children a firsthand look at the wide range of jobs available in our community and the education, training, and skills needed for each.
Students rotated through engaging presentations and demonstrations from professionals in fields such as:
Bus Driver – Students learned about the importance of safety, responsibility, and the licensing process required to transport children safely to and from school.
Welder – A hands-on look at metalwork and fabrication sparked interest in trade skills and vocational training.
Banker & Financial Planner – These guests explained how money is managed, the importance of saving, and how financial literacy empowers individuals and families.
Doctor & Therapist – Students explored careers in healthcare, learning about the years of schooling, compassion, and dedication needed to help others heal.
Magistrate – A fascinating look into the legal system, showing how laws are upheld and justice is served in our community.
Frontier Representative – Students discovered how technology and communication services are maintained and improved in rural areas.
Chef – A delicious discussion about culinary arts, creativity in the kitchen, and the teamwork behind running a restaurant.
Surveyor – Students learned how land is measured and mapped, and how this career supports construction, development, and environmental planning.
Parks and Recreation – This presentation highlighted careers that promote outdoor activities, community events, and environmental stewardship.
Each speaker shared not only what their job entails but also the education paths, certifications, and personal qualities that help them succeed. Students asked thoughtful questions and left inspired by the possibilities ahead.
Career Day at HES is more than just a school event—it’s a celebration of community, learning, and future potential. We are so grateful to all the professionals who took time out of their day to invest in our students' futures!

This week, our students are leading the way by sharing important facts about drug prevention during our morning breakfast meetings. We're learning how harmful drugs can be to our bodies and how to make smart, healthy life choices.
❤️ Tomorrow (Wednesday), we wear RED to show our unity and commitment to making Red Ribbon choices for a lifetime. Let's stand together for a drug-free future!
